So lately I've been trying to find some healthy alternatives for breakfast. Normally I'm not hungry when I wake up so I skip breakfast altogether or drink a coffee and call it quits.
When I eat heavy things like eggs and toast, or biscuits my stomach always seems to hurt. So I'm trying out green smoothies and they are delicious, and the perfect amount of substance for the morning time!
The smoothies are totally nutritious if you couldn't guess by all that good stuff in the picture, and so much better than drinking things like juices.
I love how easy they are to make and the convenience of them. I don't have to worry about taking a lot of time making breakfast with these and that is an awesome thing.
This is a pretty basic recipe but I thought I'd still share it:
- 2 cups spinach, fresh
- 3⁄4 cup water
- 3⁄4 cup orange juice
- 1 cup strawberries
- 1 cup blueberries
- 2 bananas
Blend spinach, orange juice and water until smooth. Next add the remaining fruits and blend again.
*Use at least one frozen fruit to make the green smoothie cold.*
