HR GREEN

GRAPHIC DESIGN INTERN | MAY 2014 - AUGUST 2014 | Crystal Lake, IL

At HR Green I re-designed and updated their marketing collateral and assisting in creating templates to help streamline a number of internal processes. Throughout the course of my summer I produced brochures, tradeshow postcards, proposal covers, direct mailers, and the annual calendar. I made sure all social media platforms and accounts had cohesive imagery. When needed, I shot photography of both employees, and featured projects, as well as post-editing these photos for print materials. In order to streamline the work process for the marketing team, I worked on introducing an inDesign template in order to take their Word document proposals and easily format them within an inDesign environment with set styles for headings, captions, and body copy.

We help public and private sector clients to design, construct, own and operate successful enterprises in five markets: transportation, water, governmental services, senior living, energy, land development.

Detours Magazine

ART DIRECTION | DECEMBER 2013 - MAY 2015 | Kirksville, MO

Detours is a student-produced, award-winning travel magazine that highlights Midwestern attractions, restaurants, shopping, and lodging, as well as travel-related how-to's, Q&As, tips, profiles and more. As my time as Art Director, I worked closely with the Editor in Chief to get all content gathered and edited in a timely matter, met with designers every other week for critiques and check ins, while also assembling the magazine and filling any holes on a deadline. Every issue was proofed by checking photo colors, text consistencies, and every last detail. Once these proofs were sent, we also produced a digital version that could be viewed on tablet and bought from the iTunes store, or on Issuu for easy access for students.

Detours Magazine is a travel magazine produced by students at Truman State University. It focuses on the tri-state area of Missouri, Iowa and Illinois. It was first published in 1996 and features little-known treasures throughout the Midwest.

TRUMAN STATE PUBLICATIONS

GRAPHIC DESIGNER | AUGUST 2013 - MAY 2015 | Kirksville, MO

At Truman State Publications, I communicated with students and staff members on a daily basis to work on designs for posters, social media banners, brochures, table tents, apparel designs, and more. Our office worked on creating promotional materials for Truman State as a university itself, as well as for individual organizations. I worked closely with the Truman Sate branding guide for Truman-related materials, however, oftentimes I had full creative reign when working with student organizations, pressuring quick creativity. Typically these projects included tight deadlines, so quick communication and decisions in the design process were crucial. Making sure all print files were set up correctly ahead of time, and having sharp and detailed communication with printer was important in our process as well.

STINGY STYLE

GRAPHIC DESIGN INTERN | Summer 2013 | Chicago, IL

At Stingy Style I worked at the beginning of the month on collaborating & organizing an editorial calendar and researching fresh content. Throughout this process I found images and clothing that properly reflected the post for that day and the currated style of Stingy Style as a whole.I edited these photos, created a Photoshop collage for the blog post at hand, and would post with linked content to all of Stingy Style's affiliate sites. After posting, I would help promote through social media like Twitter, Instagram, and Facebook. Time in between posts would be spent linking content together through related posts, archives, and categories through HTML within the Blogger platform. When posting each article we also made sure to ensure proper SEO practices were being fulfilled, and used Google Analytics and keywords to boost post activity. Each day was spent researching social media and post activity to make sure we understood what content was popular and to keep feeding.
